National Championship Highlights Winter Episode
TAMPA, Fla. – “USL Breakaway Magazine,” the fast-paced 30-minute highlight and feature show chronicling United Soccer Leagues and its system of professional and elite-level amateur leagues, presented a special winter episode which chronicles three major events taking place recently not far from USL’s Tampa, Florida headquarters – the 2011 Super Y-League North American Finals, the inaugural Major Beach Soccer National Championships, and the 2011 USL Annual General Meeting.
The 2011 USL AGM, held at the scenic Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach in mid December, drew hundreds of owners, executives and coaches from USL’s professional and amateur teams, as well as influential figures from national and international soccer organizations. The four-day event brought together some of the most influential leaders in North American soccer for a variety of meetings and special seminars, highlighted by the annual USL Hall of Fame Banquet.
Next “USL Breakaway Magazine” heads to the beach for the first Major Beach Soccer National Championships, held in conjunction with the AGM on Clearwater Beach. Eight men’s teams and four women’s teams that qualified from a series of summer tournaments throughout the U.S. fought to become the first MBS national champions, with all the action taking place next to Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach.
Back on the turf, the 2011 Super Y-League North American Finals were held in early December in Tampa, Florida, with more than 130 boys and girls teams and nearly 2,500 players from throughout the U.S. and Canada competing for the right to be called North American champions. The Super Y-League has helped launch the careers of many top international and professional stars, and the scouts were out in force once again hoping to uncover the next generation of stars.
Finally, “USL Breakaway Magazine” heads back to the 2011 USL Hall of Fame Banquet to speak in greater depth with two of the evening’s honorees – Des Moines Menace owner Kyle Krause and Wilmington Hammerheads Head Coach David Irving. Both were inducted into the USL Men’s Hall of Fame after their years of tireless work to promote and grow soccer in the U.S.
“USL Breakaway Magazine” is in its sixth season and continues to chronicle USL and its leagues thanks to a three-year broadcast deal between USL and FOX Soccer. “USL Breakaway Magazine” is produced by Cultural Global Media Inc.
